Credits & certificates

CME credit and certificate software

How does CME credit tracking software work?

CME credit tracking software records how many credits each attendee earned at a meeting: the organizer gives each accredited session a credit value, attendees check in to sessions, and the software compares each person’s time in each session with a minimum-attendance threshold to total their credits. Those totals are what a certificate of attendance reports.

Credits in WebMobi are computed from session check-ins under rules you set once. Only the rules are stored; the totals are calculated, so they cannot drift from the attendance record.

The rules, set once per event

Credit program
CME, CPD or CE — the label your certificates and reports use.
Credits per session
Any value from 0 to 50 in quarter-credit steps, for each session in your agenda. A session set to 0 awards nothing.
Attendance required
Whether an attendee must be checked in to the event at all. A session scan counts as being at the event.
Session check-in required
Whether each session needs its own check-in, or whether being at the event is enough.
Minimum attendance
The share of a session someone must attend for its credits to count: 50, 80 or 100 percent.

Sessions come from your agenda, including those the program builder created, so credit follows the program without a second list.

How a session’s attendance is measured

  1. Visits are taken from check-ins

Each scan in and out of a session is a visit. A visit with no scan out runs until the session ends — or until now, while the session is still running.

  2. Visits are clipped to the session

Arriving half an hour early does not add half an hour. Only time between the session’s start and end counts.

  3. Overlapping visits count once

Two phones scanning the same person, or a second scan without a scan out, never double the time.

  4. The threshold is compared exactly

Time is compared in whole seconds. At an 80 percent minimum, 48:00 of a 60-minute session counts; 47:59 does not.

  5. Credits are added up

Every session that passes adds its credit value to the attendee’s total.

Credits earned, per attendee

The credits earned list fills in on the event days as check-ins arrive. Because it is calculated, not typed, there is no total for anyone to adjust by hand — change a rule and every total is recalculated from the same check-ins.

Certificates: what is in place, and what is on request

Choose a template (Classic or Modern), who signs it and how it is delivered — by email with a download, or as a download only — and preview the certificate of attendance an attendee would receive, with their name, the event and the credits earned. The workspace lists who is eligible: attendees checked in to the event and, where credit rules exist, with credits above zero.

Credit rules come from your accredited provider

WebMobi applies the rules you enter; it does not designate or award credit. For AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™, only accredited CME providers may designate credit, and a live activity is designated at one credit per 60 minutes of educational time in 0.25-credit increments. Physicians claim credit for the time they took part. Your provider decides the credit value of each session and how participation is claimed — WebMobi gives it session-by-session attendance to work from.

The CME credit calculator shows the AMA live-activity arithmetic next to a minimum-attendance rule, so you can see how the two compare for your sessions. For the rest of a medical meeting, see medical conference management software.

Frequently asked questions

What if an attendee forgets to scan out?

A visit without a scan out counts until the session ends. That is the common case, and it is why credits are not zero for everyone who walked out without scanning.

Can an organizer change an attendee’s credit total?

Not directly. Totals are calculated from check-ins and rules. Change a rule or a session’s credit value and every total is recalculated.

Does WebMobi award CME credit?

No. Your accredited provider designates and awards credit. WebMobi records attendance and calculates totals under the rules you set.

Can we issue certificates from WebMobi?

Settings, a preview and the eligible list are in place. Issuing and verification are available on request.
