White-label event apps: what you get, who offers one, and when you actually need one
A white-label event app is listed in the App Store and Google Play under your organisation’s name. Here is what that involves, which of 34 event platforms say they offer one — with each vendor’s own page — and the alternatives most events use instead.
Written by WebMobi — whose own app is not white-label, as this page explains
What “white-label” means for an event app
Event platforms use “white-label”, “branded app” and “custom app” loosely. Three different things hide behind those words, and the difference matters for cost, timing and who controls the listing afterwards.
| Your own app in the stores | Your event inside a platform’s app | A web app (no download) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Whose name attendees search for | Yours | The platform’s, then your event inside it | None — they open a link |
| Branding | Your icon, name and colours throughout | Your event’s branding inside the platform app | Your branding on the page |
| Before attendees can use it | Build, then Apple and Google review | Publish the event | Publish the page |
| Who maintains the listing | You or the vendor, on your account | The platform | Nobody — there is no listing |
| Typical fit | A year-round audience; your brand in the store matters | Most conferences and event series | Small or one-off events |
Most events do not need the first column. Attendees follow the link in their confirmation email; what they want is the agenda, the venue map and their entry code, not your icon on their home screen. For the full picture of what an event app does, see what is an event app.

What the App Store shows
Vendors that publish organisers’ branded apps under their own developer account leave a trail in the store. On the US App Store on 2026-10-23: vFairs 200+, Hubilo 139, Swapcard 89, Accelevents 71, RainFocus 11, Eventtia 10, Stova 10, Bizzabo 6, Cvent 5, Eventdex 5, Webex Events 5 apps. Vendors that publish under each customer’s own account do not show up in this count.
What publishing your own event app involves
- Developer accounts. The app is published either under your own Apple and Google developer accounts or under the vendor’s on your behalf. Ask which — it decides who holds the listing if you change vendor.
- Store review. Apple and Google review the first release and later updates on their own timetable, so plan the launch with time to spare.
- Upkeep. New phone operating systems, store policy changes and your own branding updates all mean new releases. Ask who does them and whether they are included.
- Adoption. An app under your name still has to be downloaded. The same attendees who would open a platform’s app will open yours; the brand does not by itself raise downloads.
When you need one — and when you don’t
- Worth it: the app is a year-round product for one audience (members, a franchise or dealer network, an employee programme), several events share it, and your name in the store is part of the value.
- Probably not: one conference or a handful of events a year, a short planning window, or a budget that would rather go into the event itself.
- Ask first: what is included after launch, who owns the developer account, and what happens to the listing if you leave.
Where WebMobi fits
WebMobi does not publish an app under your own name. Your event runs inside the WebMobi app on the App Store and Google Play, and on paid plans attendees see your event’s branded experience inside it. Registration happens on your event page in a browser, and your team checks people in from their phones.
What it does not do
Written down here so you find out now, not on event day.
No app under your own name
WebMobi events run inside the WebMobi app; a store listing under your organisation’s name is not offered.
Vendor offers change
The vendor table was read from each vendor’s own site, latest on 2026-09-08. Confirm the current offer and price with the vendor.
Store counts are partial
Apps a vendor publishes under its customers’ own developer accounts are not in the App Store count.
White-label event app questions
What is a white-label event app?
An event app published in the App Store and Google Play under your organisation’s name and icon, rather than inside the platform vendor’s own app. Attendees search for your name, not the vendor’s.
Which event platforms offer a white-label app?
Of 34 platforms we checked, 8 say they offer one as standard and 16 offer it only on a higher tier, as an add-on or on an enterprise contract. 9 do not offer one. The list, with each vendor’s own page, is on this page.
Does WebMobi offer a white-label event app?
Not an app under your own name. Events run inside the WebMobi app on the App Store and Google Play; on paid plans attendees see your event’s branded experience inside it.
When do I actually need an app under my own name?
Usually when the app is a year-round product for the same audience — a membership, a franchise network, a series of recurring company events — and your brand in the app store matters more than speed and cost. For one event or a few a year, a branded event inside a platform’s app is normally enough.
What does it take to publish a white-label event app?
Typically your own Apple and Google developer accounts (or the vendor’s, published on your behalf), app-store review before the first release and again for updates, and someone to keep the listing current. Ask each vendor who owns the developer account and the listing if you leave.
